Dembélé's career began at Rennes, where he was discovered by former Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde. He quickly became a key player for the club, making over 100 appearances and scoring 45 goals during his time there. However, when Barcelona signed him in 2017, Dembélé struggled to live up to expectations and found himself out of favor under new manager Luis Enrique.
