Monaco has confirmed that Wilfried Semboul is out for the remainder of the season after suffering a concussion in training earlier this week.

The news comes as a major blow for the club, which was already without key players such as Nabil Fekir and Raphaël Varane due to injury.

Semboul had been one of Monaco's standout performers this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists in just six league appearances.

The 24-year-old has been ruled out indefinitely with a suspected concussion, but it remains unclear whether he will be fit for the return of Ligue 1 action later this month.

It is hoped that Semboul can make a full recovery and return to full fitness before the end of the season, although there is no guarantee of this.

Despite the setback, Monaco manager Vahid Halilhodžić has praised the player's professionalism and commitment to the team, and expressed his disappointment at the loss.

"We're all disappointed about this," said Halilhodžić. "But we'll support Wilfried during his recovery and hope that he will be back soon."

In the meantime, Monaco will need to find a way to cope without Semboul's goal-scoring threat, while also managing the injuries of Fekir and Varane.
